My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Boots! Boots is one happy boy that is looking for a family to love. He's estimated to be about 1 year old and weighs about 65 lbs. His breeds? Well, your guess is as good as ours! He's a mix of some sort, but his personality is all love. He was found as a stray and has quickly adjusted to life in a foster home. He's crate trained, but has proven to be trustworthy to sleep in the living room with the other dogs. He is doing very well with potty training when kept on a consistent schedule. He does great with the two resident dogs in his foster home, and with children over 8 (younger kids are unknown as he hasn't met any yet).

Boots is currently learning some basic training with his foster family. He's treat motivated and is eager to please. He loves to play with his foster family and then settle down with a chew bone. He also enjoys cozying up to his foster family. Boots pays close attention to noises and sounds outside, so living in a busy area may take longer for Boots to get used to. If Boots sounds like he'd be a great fit for your family, please consider applying!

Boots' adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue's care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
