Update on Aktor 2/24/24! Aktor was tested wth a cat and guess what? He is curious about them and calm, and response great to commands whiile right next to them!
This handsome, lovable guy was recently surrendered by his owner after living a confined life in an apartment with insufficient exercise and play. His owner said Aktor had "too much energy" for him. Yup! He is a Malinois! Aktor is now enjoying running in the fields and snow with his foster brothers, enjoying just being a dog who finally has the attention and play he needs to thrive.
Aktor has a tatoo in his left ear. A little sleuthing revealed that he was an Army K9. He was washed out because he wasn't aggressive enough. Instead of chasing decoys, he would just roll over for belly rubs, lol! Makes sense to us! Aktor loves attention and actively seeks affection. He loves sitting on his foster's lap and cuddling, He has the wonderful total Mal “lean” into your body while being caressed, and will look at your adoringly. He is very friendly with everyone, including children, and has zero reactivity.
Aktor knows the basic “sit” “down” “come” and “no” commands and is treat motivated. He does need an owner who can continue his training to reach his potential. He will happily hang out in his crate without anxiety or excess barking. Just be sure to leave him with toys! He does have some separation anxiety for about an hour if left alone in the house when not in his crate which can result in chewed pillows. He is fine after that time, and his foster is actively working on reducing his mild anxiety and hence the chewing.
This guy absolutely loves his toys and chasing a ball! Weighing 85lbs, he has already lost weight in the last few weeks just by having the freedom to play and fetch, and will be at his perfect weight soon. Aktor has a joyful enthusiasm for playing, either with other dogs, people or toys. and is full of energy. He will make a fantastic family dog or companion.
Are you ready for your new best friend? Aktor will be hard to beat! And as his foster says, "Aktor is just a really good boy!"
