Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UP FOR ADOPTION IN NEW ENGLAND AND THE MIDWEST - BUDDY
Say “Hello” to your next buddy! This one year old male Chocolate Lab mix, Buddy, has made a successful transition from a muddy outdoor kennel in Mississippi to comfy indoor dog life in Ohio. He’s ready for his forever home where he can snuggle up on the couch with his new family. His house manners are great, he responds promptly when his name is called, and enjoys being close to his people. Buddy is a perfect size family dog. He’s on the smaller size and is only about 45 pounds.
Buddy enjoys taking a few laps zooming around the yard before stopping to soak up some sunshine & enjoy a few long sniffs. He’ll then be happy to plop down on the couch for a snooze. He’s been quick to learn basic commands, and is house & crate trained. True to the young Lab personality he is ready to play, eager to please, and needs plenty of durable toys to chew on.
We recommend crating Buddy while unsupervised in his new environment. He’s had a few anxious moments where he shredded blankets or crate mats, so hold off on those creature comforts until he’s settled in.
While Buddy’s socialization was limited during foster care due to his heartworm treatment, he has done well with new places, strangers & kids. Busy or noisy environments will require some positive reinforcement, but he will gain confidence with time. He has gotten along well with multiple male and female foster sibling dogs ranging in age from 1 to 17 years old. He may like being the center of attention in a single dog home, but also enjoys the company of other dogs.
