My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jacy is a sweet 7 year old pit mix, possibly mixed with a type of sighthound like an Italian Greyhound. She is small and leggy, as she is only about 30 pounds. Jacy was adopted from us as a puppy, but after being found multiple times as a stray, the family decided they could no longer care for her and surrendered her. Jacy is not a dog that can be left unsupervised outside, as she gets nervous when she can't see her people and will climb fences. She loves her people and just wants to be with them. Jacy is content, curled up in a dog bed with a toy or two while staff work in the kennels. Jacy doesn't seem to mind most of the small/medium sized dogs she's met here. During the summer, Jacy had two instances where she lost control of her back end and was taken to our vet who examined her and did bloodwork. Her exam and bloodwork came back fine, so they believe it may have been focal seizures. They advised that if the seizures occur more often, she may need medication. She thankfully has been doing well and hasn't had another one since. We'd love to get Jacy back into a home where she can be more relaxed and be spoiled!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

WCHS is conducting the viewing of our animals by appointment only. The Kennel Adoption Application and Cat Room Questionnaire can be found on our website under the ADOPT tab, then click Adoption Process. Please be sure to review our processes closely before filling out either form.
Once the forms are submitted, management will receive and review them within 24-48 hours. Please understand that our facility is receiving a high volume of request and are doing our best to accommodate as many as possible. Management may not contact you for 3-5 days. You will either be contacted via phone, or email with the findings of our inquiry and/or to schedule your one-on-one viewing appointment with staff.
Please understand that our facility takes the health and safety of its staff and surrounding community very seriously. With that being said, entry to our building is only granted to those who have been pre-approved and have been given a viewing appointment. Walk-in viewing IS NOT an option.

More about this shelter

As Will County’s original no-kill shelter we’ve been serving the area for over 40 years with a single purpose, provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find their forever home.

Every day of the year we care for up to 30 homeless dogs and 60 cats looking for their forever homes. We provide for their general health care, shelter and well being through our network of volunteers and resources.

It’s important that you know that we’re a private shelter 501(3)(c) not-for-profit that receives no federal or local government dollars to run our facility and care for pets. In fact the shelter relies on generous donations from people just like you to make it all happen.
