Roonie is having ACL surgery!

This girl has been through enough but now she is having ACL surgery and it is scheduled for Wednesday, 08/14. It is an old issue that was never addressed. She will be in recovery for about 6 weeks & will be staying with her foster mom during that time but then will be ready to find her forever family!! She is a sweet sweet girl!

Roonie is a 3 year old, Golden mix, who came to GRRAND and almost immediately gave birth to 8 puppies!!! (Bunny and Peeps are still looking for their forever family too) She took care of her puppies and now she is ready to find her forever home where she will be able to learn to be a pampered pooch, something she has never known. As you can see from her pictures, she is very much enjoying the company of her "stuffies", so it looks like she is on her way!

Roonie's foster mom says: "Roonie is a very sweet dog. She loves her puppies & takes very good care of them. Roonie follows me around, enjoys going out on the patio for some sun and is very laid back".

Now that she has weaned her puppies and they are starting to be adopted, Roonie is looking for a home of her own! Roonie is a little timid but does warm up to people once she gets to know them. She must go to a family with another confident dog (with a calmer demeanour) and people who are willing to work with her and be patient with her to help bring her out of her shell. Her foster says she is potty trained, trust worthy in the house and all in all, just a very sweet girl!

GRRAND requires that the dog is returned if it doesn't work out or if circumstances change and the owner cannot keep the dog. Also, there is a follow-up team that will contact the adopter after the adoption to assist with any questions.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
