Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Zelda was brought to the shelter in March after being found running the street. One volunteer noted that she is treat motivated and can sit on command, SUPER potty trained, and a fan of pets and affection. We hope you have tennis balls because this lady loves playing fetch!
She does live up to her namesake Zelda from the Great Gatsby. She is a party girl and she knows her own mind!!! She will look for opportunities to entertain you. OK she may be goofier than her namesake but just as fun.
She has a balanced temperament. When you take her to the play yard, she will be so excited to sniff and explore, but also LOVES down time on the couch with volunteers getting kisses and belly rubs and napping. We think she’d do great in a home that has a balance of activity & down time.
Zelda’s the perfect girl and we can’t wait for her to make a family very happy!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
