My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Josey is one hilarious character. When you think of all the characteristics that Husky Afficionados love about these fun-loving, goofy dogs, Josey has them all. She is the poster girl for best of the Breed.

No doubt there is a smattering of other Canine DNA in Josey’s make-up. We see a hint of Australian Shepherd, and we wouldn’t rule out a smidge of Bully.

Josey's story is a familiar one. Just one year old, she was found as a country stray and brought to a rural Shelter in North Carolina. Nobody came to claim her.

Shelter staff fell in love with Josey and were glad to transfer her to us before her euthanasia date. Josey adapted beautifully to our routine, and she quickly became one of our favorites.

Josey is a robust beauty with a BIG personality. She is extremely people friendly and would be a superstar in an active family who have the training chops to manage an energetic youngster.

Josey needs sufficient exercise to be happy, at least 2-3 brisk leash walks a day, plus a lot of focused playtime and ongoing obedience work with her Person. She loves the outdoors, and enjoys her walks even in the harsh weather.

Josey would be an ideal walking or running companion, which would help work out her ya-yas, before an obedience session. She has had a good grounding in beginning obedience and knows her basic commands. She has begun her Canine Good Citizen program and impresses us every day. Adopters should continue her program and develop her full potential.

Josey has a strong, yet nimble physique, and is at an ideal weight of 50 pounds. Her coat is short, manageable and easy to groom. Josey is mostly gray with striking white tuxedo markings and “socks.” Her one ice blue eye adds comic relief to her beautiful face.

Josey could join just about any kind of active home. She is generally well behaved, and friendly to all. Although she is fairly easy to handle, she may overwhelm toddlers, but she'd be fine with older children and other well behaved dogs. We have not tested her with cats.

Josey has excellent house manners, and is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur as she adjusts to a new routine. Josey rides calmly in her crate on long drives, and behaves well in public.

Josey has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Josey, please write to Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
