Benny is nothing if not the picture of resilience! We rescued sweet 1-year-old, 32 lb Benny from the streets of a rural Texas town. The poor guy was lying next to a garbage can and had the most heartbreaking limp from being hit by a car.
Thankfully, Benny is now getting a taste of the good life as he lounges on the couch in his foster home. Despite everything he has been through, Benny is playful and easygoing. He loves playing with other dogs, giving his foster mom kisses, and napping on the couch.
Benny is house-trained, leash-trained, and crate-trained. He is understandably scared of cars passing by when he goes for walks, so he's hoping for a home with a fenced-in yard.
According to Benny's foster mom, "it's hard to put into words just how cute and sweet Benny is!" So what are you waiting for?

The Street Dog Project is comprised of a small group of volunteers who are passionate about saving street dogs in Dallas, TX. The majority of our team was previously heavily involved at another local street dog rescue but left for various reasons over the years. We wanted to save more lives so "got the band back together". We are an experienced team of rescuers, operating under a new name.
We have a lot of experience capturing elusive street dogs and helping them adjust to life in a loving home.
The dogs are taken to the vet upon rescue so they can be examined, dewormed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (and treated if positive) and attend to any other medical needs. Life on the streets is tough so a lot of the dogs we take in have beyond basic medical needs. Heartworm, mange, leg and eye injuries are some of the most common medical conditions we encounter.
