My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A FUN, ACTIVE & HAPPY PUP:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 40 lbs.

Hi, my name is Lucas!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I sure am happy about that!  I arrived with a pretty rough case of juvenile cellulitis, but I’ve completely recovered from that!  I’m looking for a great family to love and be active with!  I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program off site and learned a lot!  Now, I’m in a great foster home waiting for my forever family to find me!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I have really liked and wanted to play with every dog I’ve met at Mostly Mutts, in the prison/foster training program and in my foster home, too.  If you have a nice doggie who would enjoy a playful buddy, let’s meet! / My former family reported that I did well with cats, so let’s meet. / I liked the younger kids in my former home but I’m a typical bigger mouthy pup, so kids 10 and older may be best in my new home - let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as ‘a super sweet and adorable boy’ who is ‘very well trained’.  I’ve got lots of exuberant and goofy puppy energy and I’m very friendly and curious.  Being a puppy, I sometimes nibble on things and my foster – playfully of course, and I can be easily distracted away from this behavior with a toy or treat.  I would make a good alert dog for someone, as I will bark at something that I think needs your attention – like a stranger walking up to our home.  However, once I meet that stranger, I am as sweet as can be. / My energy level is 6-8, so get ready to be active with your new best friend!

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m in the Mostly Mutts University training program and so far, I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands as well as how to accept friendly strangers without jumping and utilize proper door etiquette.  I am also highly treat motivated, which helps with my training.  In my foster home, I’ve also learned the words and phrases ‘inside’, ‘outside’, ‘upstairs’, ‘downstairs’, ‘get your toy’ and ‘this way’. Now I’m working on my leash manners which are coming along, though I do still pull if I want to say ‘hi’ to another dog or person on my walk – I’m just so friendly.  I love learning, so teach me lots of tricks! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in my foster home, where I am crated each night and sometimes while my foster runs to the store during the day. / My potty manners are good in my foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE to play.  All toys excite me and spending time playing with people in the yard is just the BEST!  I’d enjoy a fenced yard in my new home, where we can have lots of play sessions together. I’m affectionate and loving, so I loved being held, giving kisses, and being cuddled up in my towel after my shelter bath. Speaking of baths, I enjoy those, though I am not a water dog overall and don’t seem to care for my foster’s puppy pool.  I have a fearless temperament, so I am not bothered by the vacuum cleaner or lawn mower.  I ride well in the car and enjoy going places, so let’s go have some fun together! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I really do not like having my nails clipped, so I may need to be sedated for this at the vet.

I’m looking for a wonderful home with an active family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
