Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
It's the moment we've all been waiting for - Monroe is ready for her very own forever home!
If you've followed us for a while, you know Monroe has been on quite the journey. We started following Monroe over a year and a half ago! She and a few of her buddies were roaming the streets of South Dallas. After building a lot of trust with Monroe (oh, the power of food), we brought Monroe and her newest litter of puppies into our care. Since then, Monroe has spent time in a foster home learning all about the comforts that come with being a loved, indoor pet. The progress this sweet girl has made is nothing short of astounding.
Monroe is a 4-year-old, 43 lb, gorgeous German Shepherd mix. This means she is extremely intelligent and loyal. She spent most of her life pre-TSDP on the streets, so she's still learning that the good life isn't so scary. She's looking for a patient adopter who understands Monroe needs time to adjust to new environments. But once Monroe feels comfortable, she is such a silly, happy girl.
Monroe loves other dogs and needs a home with a canine sibling. She is house trained and working hard to be a good girl in the crate. Monroe loves long walks where she's allowed to sniff, sniff, sniff. Most of all, Monroe is sweet and gentle - after all, she was a wonderful mom to nine puppies!
Could you be the patient, loving person who shows Monroe the love and security of a real forever home?

The Street Dog Project is comprised of a small group of volunteers who are passionate about saving street dogs in Dallas, TX. The majority of our team was previously heavily involved at another local street dog rescue but left for various reasons over the years. We wanted to save more lives so "got the band back together". We are an experienced team of rescuers, operating under a new name.
We have a lot of experience capturing elusive street dogs and helping them adjust to life in a loving home.
The dogs are taken to the vet upon rescue so they can be examined, dewormed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (and treated if positive) and attend to any other medical needs. Life on the streets is tough so a lot of the dogs we take in have beyond basic medical needs. Heartworm, mange, leg and eye injuries are some of the most common medical conditions we encounter.
We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on donations to save lives. Donations can be made by clicking the "donate now" button on our Facebook page or visiting www.thestreetdogproject.org. Thanks for your support!
