Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This sweet love is 9 years old, approx. 45 lbs and is listed as a “terrier mix” but certainly appears to have some cattle dog or hound in there.
Kovu was returned to our rescue 7 years after adoption due to changing family circumstances. He is working with our friends at Kompletely K9 Dog Training and Rehabilitation to gain some assessment and training under his belt.
Kovu had a canine sister in his former home and they would hang out together while their mom was out of the home for work. Kovu exhibits some signs of separation anxiety so he may benefit from a family who has someone home more than not.
Kovu has had some training evaluation and advice about his behavior and requires a strong leader to help him overcome some of the reactive behavior that he exhibits when out and about; this could be some overprotectiveness on his part and he is working on confidence and calmness, learning that he doesn’t have to be anxious or to be the leader.
Kovu is a responsive and trainable guy who would do well with continued training and a good human leader.
If you have interest in meeting Kovu or any of our sweet pups, please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
