My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chief "Mr. Stubbs" is a petite young cat (about 9 lbs) with a short manx tail and the most silky soft fur. (He feels like a rabbit!) This super low maintenance kitty is about a year old and can't understand why his cute self is still in foster. He has zero bad habits but he thinks it's because he has a very shy first impression.

Chief is very cat friendly. He tolerates cat-savy dogs and will occasionally run up and scare the resident dog because it's just so fun to watch him jump. He loves to play, chase toys or anything he can turn into a toy, watch tv, and hang out in the window to watch the birds. Chief is not a lap kitty yet. He is very content hanging out in the room with you. He loves head scratches and laying beside you but is still not sure he should be picked up. He is food-motivated and will come running when you call him or shake a treat container. He would make a great brother to another cat since he thrives on following their lead or would be content being the only kitty for you to talk to. Chief is kid-friendly, neutered, current on vaccines, and FeLV negative.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

• Due to the rising cost of veterinary care, and to ensure we can continue to save animals in danger, along with providing excellent vetting care, our adoption fees range from $75 - $400 to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm test, and any medical needs the animal incurred while in our care. We operate only on contributions from our supporters and are very grateful for their support.
• Our Adoption Process:
• Complete Adoption Application
• Phone interview
• Vet reference check
• Meet with your pet of interest
A home Visit is done and the animal meets all members of your family. We require a signed contract with the adopter with an agreement to return the animal to APS if the adopter cannot continue to care for their animal

Go meet their pets

All of our pets are in foster homes. In order to meet them we ask that you fill out our nonbinding adoption application on our website. Our adoption coordinator will then call you to set up a time and place for you to meet the animal. We participate in several "Meet & Greet" events each year. It is possible to meet our animals at these events, but we do not bring all animals to all evens.

More about this rescue

Animal Protection Society of Person County is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are a group of volunteers who open our hearts and homes to the homeless, neglected, and abused animals. We rescue animals from the shelter that are in danger of being euthanized and we take in owner surrenders. We receive no public funding. Donations are our main source of income. We are always in need of more foster homes. Without our fosters, we could not function. APS is an organization which is over 20 years old and we hope to serve our area for many more years to come.
