My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🖤FOREVER FOSTER TOM🖤
M | 4Y | 34 KG | MIXED BREED | NEUTERED | UTD on shots | Housebroken | Crate Trained Excited when meeting dogs | Not cat tested | Good with kids | Recommended frequent bathing due to skin issues | Fostered in Burlington

Tom is a gentle soul with lots of love to give! He loves pets and will look at you with pleading eyes and inch a little bit closer if you stop before he's ready.

Tom loves exploring outside and is very interested in his surroundings. He can be excitable on a leash but how could you blame him when there are so many new things to see? Tom is the same with food - he's so excited to eat all of it that he forgets to chew sometimes! However, Tom has been great at eating his food slowly when using a slow feeder and has also been working on leash training with his foster!

An ideal day for Tom would involve lots of naps and cuddles with his forever foster with a few walks where he can get his dose of exploring the outside world. Tom has met dogs on walks and in his foster homes and is very excited by them and is working on some leash reactivity. He will take time and training to fit in to a home with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats and would be best in a home with no cats due to his prey-drive. Tom loves meeting new people, whether young or old, and has done very well with a small child in the home.

Tom is currently recovering from Demodex mange and has had a previous skin cancer lump removed, making him more sensitive. He is a dog that we cannot in good conscious deem adoptable as in the 8 months we’ve had him, he’s continued to have health complications. We would prefer to be able to provide for all his medical needs while he gets to live out the rest of his days with a family whose pure dedication is to loving him and taking care of him - without the financial burden of costly medical bills.

What Tom needs:

- Continued support with leash reactivity (excitement on leash)

- UV shirt anytime he is out in the daylight (even on cloudy days)

- Outside time in the shade (avoid the sun when possible)

- Weekly baths

- Regular massages to check for any lumps

- Vet checks as needed when lumps are found (at our clinic in Mississauga)

A foster close to Mississauga who can drive would be ideal, but we can accommodate anywhere within our foster region (Toronto - London)

If you can open your heart and home up to Tom, please fill out a foster application.
