Sirius, who we have affectionately renamed/nicknamed Bear, is just that…a fluffy, cuddly teddy bear. His calm and sweet demeanor makes great company and he loves nuzzling into your lap or backing up to you so you can give him a good scratch on his behind. He is very friendly with our hyper 3 year old border collie mix and they love to play together. They’ve had some disputes over sharing toys and can get territorial with their food but other than that they’ve become good pals. We don’t have cats so we aren’t sure if he is cat friendly however he has tried to chase the cats that walk the back of our fence.
Bear does good on a leash and loves going for walks and car rides. He’s confidently learned how to “sit” and we’re sure he could learn many other commands with a bit of training. He is potty trained and we only had one accident (possibly marking) at first. He was a bit nervous at first getting used to our house (fearful of the hardwood floors, doorways, and hallways) but he was brave and settled in very nicely with us. We attempted to crate train him because our current dog is but found that that brought out a lot of unneeded anxiety for him. We can trust him when we are gone from the house a few hours as he just naps on the couch until we come home. At night he is happy to sleep in bed with us or on his own in the living room. He’s a great dog that wants to make his new best friend happy and deserves the same.
