My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Portland, the ultimate adventure buddy wrapped in a bundle of energy and love! This playful pup lives for the thrill of the outdoors. Whether she's splashing in the water, zooming through the agility course, or showing off her latest trick, Portland's enthusiasm is infectious. Tug-of-war is her favorite game, but she's just as happy to cuddle up afterward-if you can convince her it's time to settle down!

Portland adores meeting new people, especially if they come bearing treats or toys, and she's a pro at giving kisses that will melt your heart. She's also an explorer at heart, walking beautifully on a harness and eager to sniff out new adventures. Be prepared, though: when it's time to head back to her kennel, she might dig in her heels and insist on just one more cuddle session.

With her zest for life and love of all things fun, Portland is ready to be your partner in crime for all kinds of adventures. She's looking for someone who shares her love of exploring, learning, and, of course, cuddling! Could that be you?

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
