My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Daisy! Daisy is coming up on a year old and has spent more than half of her young life growing up in the shelter. Let's get this adorable scruffy girl into a home.
She's some kind of adorable scruffy terrier mix (but NOT a non-shedding or hypoallergenic coat) We thought she was going to grow bigger but she's topped out at only 30lbs, the perfect size.
Having grown up in the shelter and already being a bit of shy puppy, she's not had a lot of positive real world experiences and her initial reaction is to be afraid and shut down when confronted with new people, places, and events. In her familiar environment here and with her familiar people, she's a funny spunky wild child who loves to race around the play yards, go for long walks, and wrestle with her doggie buddies. Car rides, strangers, and so many other things scare her but her friends here have been working on socializing her and helping her be more brave. Daisy would like a quieter home with a stable routine and structure where she can continue to learn. She gets along with compatible doggie friends (mostly playful males her size or bigger... all her playmates keep getting adopted and leaving her behind:() No kitties or tiny animals for her please, once she gets comfortable she can be a bit of a bully with them. But mostly she loves her people that make her feel safe and comfortable and will be a loyal cuddly best friend in the right home. Please submit an application for an appointment to meet Daisy

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
