My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Doris Day observed that “I have found that there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.” This makes us think of our sweet Peyton!

Why we love Peyton: Her strength and resilience inspire us every day!

Peyton is 15 months old, weighs 46 pounds, and is so beautiful with her chestnut colored coat.

Peyton was shy when she first came to us. She spent time in the home of one of our dedicated volunteers who observed: "Peyton's journey at her foster home has been marked by her remarkable ability to form deep bonds with her canine companions. She thrives in the company of other dogs, plays well outside, and would flourish in a home with a furry friend to keep her company. Peyton's gentle nature shines brightest when surrounded by her dog companions.

Peyton truly approaches life on her own terms. With patience, understanding, and a willingness to embrace her unique quirks, Peyton has the potential to become an incredible companion for the right individual or family."

Peyton is enjoying daily walks and lots of quality cuddle time back at the shelter. She is a beautiful, gentle and very special dog! We have especially loved seeing how Peyton has blossomed and is savoring the joy of living her best doggy life!

Peyton looks forward to her time in the fenced yard. She is so agile and graceful and loves playing with the toys. Peyton also adores splashing around in the doggy pool. Once she is done, she will relax by your side and enjoy the day with you. Peyton is such wonderful company! We love her stunning doggy smile!

Peyton has the best time in play groups with her fellow shelter companions and is an absolute star! She does an amazing job making sure everyone participates, has a good time and makes the most of their play sessions. We love seeing her have so much fun. She bounds about in total joy and truly savors the company of her playmates. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility.

Peyton is so grateful for attention and affection and our staff and volunteers are utterly devoted to her!

Come meet Peyton and witness firsthand the resilience and spirit that make her truly one of a kind. She will be an amazing companion!

We are so grateful to Carla Miles for her beautiful photos of our dogs and cats!

More about this shelter

Cheatham County Animal Control is committed to finding good homes for the animals that come into the shelter system. We work with rescues and adopters. We are a no kill shelter but we rely on people coming in to adopt!

All of our cats/dogs receive vaccinations that are appropriate for the age and health when they are at animal control. We also spay and neuter all of our animals. The adopter is responsible for all vaccinations and medical care after adoption.
