My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Togo is a sensitive senior sir who came to the shelter as a stray and has been working hard to adjust to the shelter routine. He’s made major progress and is a different dog these days! Here’s what a few of his friends have said:

“I`ve been walking Togo once a week for the last four weeks. He is a good loose-leash walker who is calm during sitdowns. He is not reactive to other dogs. Togo is a gentle dog and I enjoy my time with him.”

“I took Togo to the nearest play yard where he explored for a bit. He came very close to me to take treats with a very gentle mouth; cautious but curious. He allowed for chin scratches at first, then neck, shoulders, and ears. He LOVED having his ears scratched and leaned into me for the good stuff.”

“I’ve been spending at least two days a week with Togo since he arrived at PACC- what an amazing dog he is. He is incredibly SWEET and EASY and my favorite guy to spend time with. He is super easy to leash and handle and he walks like a dream. He’s tolerant, relaxed, calm, gentle, and quiet. He’s well-behaved and listens to instructions and he never reacts to people or other dogs while we are out. We have this great routine we do- I put a blanket down in his kennel and give him a Nubz to chew on (which he loves). He then snuggles up on the blanket next to me with his Nubz and chews it so thoughtfully and slowly. We then go for a nice leisurely walk and then to a play yard where he enjoys smelling, watching people, and being petted. We then venture through the lobby and he’s always mild-mannered and polite when meeting people. This charming guy is the best - I would take him home in a minute if I could.”

During a brief stay in a foster home Togo seemed to be housebroken and was described as playful and polite on leash. We learned that he’ll need some extra help and patience as he settles into a home environment. We just know he’ll flourish in the right home- he’ll benefit from continued crate training.

Togo has generally kept to himself when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. He has shared his kennel politely with a variety of furry friends. Togo also needs a hip surgery (which PACC will perform) and needs a home prior to this. Please ask to meet Togo today!
