06/13/24 22:59 Dog Day Out Report from last week: Today I: met a new friend who took me for a drive and a walk! I was ready to get going and hopped in and out of the car all on my own. I wanted to sit in the front, but had to stay in the back, so instead I played with a squeaky toy and looked out the window. Once we got to the park, I wanted to play more than I wanted to walk but once I got some energy out, I was happy to walk and sniff. I saw other dogs, people, geese, and ducks – I’m curious and like to sniff but I’m happy to just watch them go by. I also got lots of treats for showing off my sit!
Three Words to Describe Me are: Playful, Sweet, Energetic
Notes from My Walker: Churro’s favorite toy is the leash, and he is very good at chewing through flat leashes quickly so make sure to bring toys and backup leashes. Even with a squeaky toy and treats it was sometimes hard to redirect from chewing the leash. He really likes playing tug, so I recommend bringing an old leash/rope toy. He really wants to play when he first gets out so I recommend playing tug/fetch for a bit before walking. Can get a little mouthy when playing – would just stop playing, say no, and have him sit. He has no problem getting in and out of the car on his own but does want to be in the front seat with you and will also chew on his harness (even with toys in the back seat). When he’s not chewing the leash he walks great, loose leash, likes to walk beside you, and checks in frequently. Knows sit really well and is food motivated. Likes to give kisses. Curious of other dogs/people/geese etc. but just watches/sniffs as they pass, doesn’t really try to approach or otherwise react. Overall a sweet and playful pup. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today I: went on my first DDO at Almaden Lake. I’m a petite friendly boy, unsure of my surroundings in the real world. I got to sniff everything on the trail and got treats for staying calm and checking in with my walker. I don’t pull on the leash and generally stick with my handler. I know “sit” and I let other dogs pass by without over-reacting. I enjoyed a pup cup on my way back to the shelter. I like playing with toys and I love getting pets. Three Words to Describe Me are: Affectionate, Gentle, Motivated
Notes from My Walker: I got the impression that Churro has not had too much exposure to the real world, as he got overs
