My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Bissell!

Bissell is a beautiful Terrier mix who is approximately 2 years old and weighs 15 pounds. She came to us by way of a private rescuer in south Texas near the border of Mexico. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood where she really didn’t have a home. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own. She had a few litters of puppies and relied on the kindness of people there to get food. All of that is behind her now! She came to us with her little puppy Hoover and we are so happy they are here. We can’t wait for them to finally find their loving, forever homes.

Bissell is a sweet and gentle girl. She has a short warming up period to get to know new people. But once she feels safe and comfortable, her personality starts to shine through. She is VERY treat motivated and is very gentle taking them, too. Bissell gets along with the other dogs in her playgroup, who are about her size and not very bossy or dominant. She will do best in a quieter home, with a patient family who will show her how wonderful it is to finally have a comfy home of her very own.

Bissell is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Gettysburg, PA on August 10th, 2024, with an approved application! She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost.

*Bissell tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. For more information, please review here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/chagas
