Dawns Please don`t ask me why I am named Dawns; I`m neither a dish soap nor a girl. I am a handsome, 3-year-old male orange tabby cat. I was surrendered to HSHC in March, quickly adopted again, but was returned because my new owner lost their home. It beats me why I haven`t been snatched up when we all know orange cats are the best! I was very well-behaved and friendly during my medical exam. I was shocked to learn my ears were so itchy due to ear mites! Whoa! I`m feeling tip-top now. I`m also living in a fantastic foster home, where I can have a break from shelter life. My foster mom has been a peach. She told the interviewer lady that I was still rather shy, but I was much more brave and confident than when I first arrived. I am a genuine `people person` and am always friendly with everyone I meet. I have impeccable litterbox habits, and I`m already neutered. She hasn`t quite figured out what my morning routine is all about. Every morning, I run from the upper stairs to the stairs going down and then repeat the process. She thinks I`m exercising, but I am actually surveying the territory for uninvited guests. She figured out that I am a curious fellow and find it fascinating to explore the whole house. Whenever she opens the door to a new room, I zip past her before she can even step inside! My previous owner told the HSHC I have successfully lived with dogs, cats, and kids. If my foster mom doesn`t fall in love with me and adopt me, then I hope you will contact the shelter to put a hold on me! I`m very good-looking! 12-3-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
