My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diamond Ring is currently in foster care and available to meet you via virtual meet and greet. To begin the process, please submit an adoption survey and the team will reach out via email with next steps (please check spam). For any additional questions, please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org. If you are not sure if you're quite ready to adopt but are interested in Diamond Ring, she is also eligible for our two-week adoption trial period. This means you can take her home and see if she's the right fit for you and your family first. We'll provide all the support you need during the trial to ensure a smooth transition. Please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org for any questions or to learn more about the trial adoption process!

Meet Diamond Ring, a female 1 1/2-year-old mixed breed dog with a black and white coat weighing 46lbs. Truly a diamond in the rough, Diamond Ring was surrendered to the city shelter system as her initial family was going through serious hardship. Despite her tough start at life, Diamond Ring is a perpetual optimist. With her tail wagging, she's eager to make friends with everyone she meets. A young adult in her prime, Diamond Ring has a lot of energy and is looking for someone who can keep up with her active lifestyle. Don't be fooled though, it's also important you're ready to lounge on the couch with her and provide lots of tummy rubs too. While she has some training under her belt, Diamond Ring's new family needs to be ready to continue prioritizing training with her. Does this precious gem sound like she could be the one for you?

Her fosters note progress with Diamond Ring in her time with them. "She became much more confident in herself, much more loving to us [even though she was incredibly loving from the beginning] and much more trusting. She learned how to walk properly on a leash in the city, she began pulling less on the leash, she listened to commands...She is so kind and loving, She ideally needs an owner with a large backyard where she can run off-leash, play and get some good activity, She needs 2-3 walks a day but having a backyard with a doggy door would be ideal so she can use the bathroom at her discretion. She is an amazing dog"

She is curious, energetic and a sweetheart. Her favorite activities are staring into shop windows, walks, running up stairs, watching backyardigans and paw patrol, car rides and eating peanut butter. She is very gentle around other animals - she gets really excited when she sees them and is super curious when she meets new dogs and will usually sit or lay down around them as she sniffs them. She is an absolute sweetheart, she truly makes you fall in love with her, and she loves everyone she comes into contact with unconditionally. She does still pull on the leash but she is showing continuing improvement and wants very much to please.

Diamond Ring is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed, ensuring she is in excellent health and ready to join her new family. Diamond Ring's adoption also includes 4 weeks of free virtual training through our partners at Good Pup!
