My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gil

Located in Dalton NE

Chihuahua mix

07/28/2021 Birthday

Dog friendly

Cat friendliness unknown but likely fine

Will be fine with older children who are CALM and have dog manners, he is too WAY small to be manhandled or played with rough

Not fully or consistently house trained, and knowing his breed this could be a long process. He gets cold easily and isn't a fan of potting outside in the cold haha. This being said he has already made positive movement on this topic

He is crate trained but doesn't love it. He needs a heartbeat stuffed animal or another dog to sleep with him. He also believes when kenneled that he can and should express all his opinions as loud as possible.

Doesn't know commands but is shockingly easy to motivate so he should be relatively easy to train

LOTS of LOUD opinions, not an apartment appropriate dog, unless you're looking to get out of your lease, then he is the PERFECT dog

He is shy at first and will need a home that understands at first it may be a bit of a slower process than a usual dog, if you rush it he will never come around and end up returned so this is a serious aspect that you as an adopter need to consider realistically and carefully

Needs to be adopted with his sibling Ike

Likes to sleep under the covers, or in "cave" beds

Fully vetted

4lbs approx

These 2 boys are Ike (larger brindle) and Gilligan (smaller tan). These boys have been with us their whole lives (born 7/28/21) and while their foster absolutely LOVES them they deserve their FURever home. The issue is that they must go TOGETHER, everyone has wanted Gilligan but no one was also interested in Ike. These boys have the sweetest most healthy and delightful bond that splitting them up just isn’t in their best interest and would be cruel. Gil is more outgoing and comes around to ppl faster than Ike who is more shy. Gil is also 4lbs packed with hilarious antics and Ike is way more cuddly and sweet. Ike chooses his people and is just more cuddly with them vs others. However once they get to know and trust you both are crazy sweet. Together they are so opposite yet work together so perfectly. They play perfectly together and with other dogs extremely well. Ike does watch out for Gilligan, especially around larger dogs, as Gilligan seems to have no idea he's only 4lbs, he absolutely adores the fosters huge Saint Bernard. If you’re interested in adding 2 precious little boys to your family don’t hesitate to reach out! Both boys are dog friendly. Both are likely fine with cats. Both would be fine with older non heathen kids (Gil is only 4lbs so needs children who understand “gentle”). Both are shy but not nippy at all, they will hide not fight. Both do ok with housetraining they could be more consistent but there is a lot going on in the current foster home so it's very inconsistent. Both love cuddling, cuddling with their ppl, cuddling with other dogs, cuddling with each other and both are use to sleeping with their human and each other. These 2 are the most delightful pair and deserve the most amazing home.

We are NOT looking for a home that really just wants Gilligan but is willing to take Ike to get him. Both dogs are precious and deserves someone who loves them both equally and as much as their foster mom does.

Side note: Gilligan was born in my living room and because of his weight issues that have FINALLY been resolved, his initially shy personality and the fact that he must go with his brother Ike, he’s still here, 1.5 year later… y’all Chihuahua’s are NOT my jam but he’s pretty adorbs.

Original Description, which is still 100% true
Gil was the 3rd pup born and 100% the most needy. He is 1/3 the size of his brother but he makes up for it in pure gumption! He has no fear, he loves to snuggle he's the tiniest little man with such HUGE personality. To this peanut every day is an adventure and he is down to live every moment to its fullest! He is going to keep someone on their toes and we cannot wait to meet his people!

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption fee which ranges based on age of the dog or cat. We also require a completed (and obviously accepted) adoption application, and home and reference checks. We don't do this to be nosey, but because when we bring an animal into our program we make a promise to that animal that they will go to the best home for them. We are more concerned with the quality of our adoptions than the quality
