My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Portobella is the sweetest 2-year-old pittie mix! She is quite small for her breed, but she has some muscle and she is a very active dog! Portobello loves to greet us in the morning and knows exactly who her humans are.

She is a very food-motivated pup, making training with her much easier! Portobella is such a baby, and does not always know how to express her emotions best. Sometimes she gets so excited to see you that she forgets whether she wants to snuggle or zoom, leading to a ridiculous game of `flop, sprint, flop, spin spin spin, sprint, flop`. Portobella has been in foster in the past, but did return to shelter care simply because the cat of the home decided that Bella was no longer a welcome guest due to her being of the canine genre.

From her foster family: Portobella is the sweetest cutest goofball ever!! she has such a funny personality and all she wants is love and cuddles. She is a HUGE cuddle bug and loves to curl up on the couch with you!! She has lots and lots of energy and adores going on walks, runs, hikes, or doing anything out and about!! She is super food motivated and wants to please so badly and she is so attentive to voice commands which makes training easy!

Bella has been through what us old folks call `the ringer`. She has struggled to find her place in the world, meaning that she has not had a chance to build herself a foundation of trust. She struggles to know who is here to love her vs who is just big and scary. She is looking for an experienced dog owner, preferably one who knows what it`s like to be hurt and have to learn to trust again. Bella has done well with dogs in the past, but struggles with reactivity that can make it hard to introduce her to new pups. We believe that once Bella has established a good foundation of trust and stability she will learn readily.

If you are ready to meet Portobella, please send in a dog application on our website. We will be in touch to schedule an appointment for you two to meet.

Portobella is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccines. Her adoption fee has been sponsored by an amazing donor.
