My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I`m Axel!
I`m a sweet, energetic, and smart fellow. I’m a 4 years and 9 months old male terrier. My days are filled with chasing my tail, napping, and dreaming of treats. I can`t resist a good treat, they`re my absolute favorite! But, I must admit, I get a bit grumpy when it comes to sharing my food. It`s just because I love it so much! I`m also quite the charmer, giving out kisses to anyone who`ll accept them. I`d do best in a home where I can be the only pet, soaking up all your love and attention. I need a little patience, but I promise I`m worth it. I`ve spent most of my life indoors, but I am learning to like the great outdoors. They tell me there`s lots of adventures out there so I am trying to be brave, I just need a little more time to adjust. I`m eager to learn and ready to become your loyal companion. Adopt me and let`s embark on a beautiful journey together.

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
