Meet our current foster Buddy, and read about his rescue story! A handsome Russian Blue, approximately 2-3 years old. Buddy was rescued after being stuck in a tree for days. It took a failed attempt by the fire department to rescue him. Eventually a mother sent her son up the tree, he had Buddy in his hands, and then he realized he was stuck in the tree too. It took another failed attempt by the fire department to get both the man and cat out the tree. Finally, rescuers on the ground held out a blanket, the man “dropped” Buddy from height, and he landed safely in the blanket, and the man was then able to come down on his own.
Imagine everyone’s surprise and excitement when Buddy was scanned for a chip and they realized he was stuck up a tree in the same community his owners live in! Well, the owners were notified, and unfortunately they made no effort to pick him up. They were “busy” shopping at Walmart at 10pm, and said they would come get him, but never showed. She never once said that she was so happy he was found and wanted him back. If I was “busy” on the day my cat was found, I would at least ask the finder to hold onto him until I became available. Many wonderful people took hours out of their lives the night before Christmas Eve to rescue him, and she couldn’t be bothered. Not once was he posted missing online or in the community.
Unfortunately, we know these stories are so common in rescue. On a happier note, he has been with us ever since, he is a sweet boy, who would love to be your cat. He would love his own home and would love to give you some snuggles. He is very intelligent, he opens all the doors in the house, loves to lay on/in my purse, is a bit of a bulldozer around the house, and loves wet food! Adoption is through Purradise Gardens Inc.
