My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org***

Brandy is the mom of Mary, Mufasa, Victoria and Mavis and collectively and affectionately we call them the fat 5!  Brandy came to us from a hoarding situation very pregnant.  She was pretty certain she had no desire to be around humans and she was very adamant that we all knew she wanted nothing to do with any of us.  But she had to have her kittens somewhere safe so she went to a foster home where she continued to communicate to her foster mom and unfortunately to her kittens as well that humans are a no-go!!!  That made things challenging because she didn't want anyone to come near her or her adorable little crew of fuzzballs.  But as they grew (and oh boy, oh boy did they grow!) they slowly let people pet them.  Well as fate would have it by the time they came around they were no longer kittens and their foster mom had taken a fall which was going to make it impossible for her to take care of the crew in her home so to the shelter they came.  We continued to make friends with the group and we can say that except for Mary, everyone has come around to thinking that we aren't really all that awful!  Interestingly, Brandy has made a total 180 and thinks we are actually pretty awesome and now is always the first to ask for pets!  Jeesh girlfriend this would have all been a heck of a lot easier if you could have come to that conclusion in the first place!  So the crew is now all hanging out in one of the community rooms having fun and very happy to see the staff and volunteers (except Mary who still is very suspect of us all) but you will usually find Mavis, Mufasa, Victoria, Brandy and sometimes even Mary all trying to fit their chubby butts in to one cat bed, one snuggle box or just in one huge pile of tabby cat love in the middle of the floor.  While we realize finding them a home where all 5 of them would get to stay together would be quite an accomplishment, we do think that it would be AMAZING for them all to stay together and how cool would it be to lounge on the couch or in your recliner totally covered by a warm, fuzzy, purring pile of tabby cats!!!!  We frankly can't think of much better than that. We would like to hopefully get them adopted as pairs if possible.  Brandy we estimate was born June of 2020 and just a kitten herself when her kids were born May of 2021.  All of them are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations (however, they can no longer have rabies vaccines due to one of them having a significant reaction the last time around) and microchipped. As always, our adoption fee for cats/kittens is free will to approved applicants.

More about this shelter

The ECAS is an all volunteer, no kill shelter. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome pets in need due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or from simply not being wanted! We started in 2010 due to a need in our community. We are currently a foster based organization and we are currently building our new shelter facility. We work hand in hand with other rescue and shelters in the area to help out when and where we are needed.
