Meet "Velcro Cat" Anchovy!

We saw this sweet guys story while he was housed at the city kill shelter, and just knew we had to get him out of there before he faced the unthinkable, as he did test positive for FIV, which tends to be more of a stigma than a problem in a cat's life.

Anchovy (approx 4 years old) came to us and nearly instantly made himself right at home, as he's such a friendly boy! He absolutely loves to snuggle up in the crook of your arm for love and he's a super gentle cat. He's very affectionate BUT also very considerate and once you're settled in, he gently works his way in for a cuddle that suits both of you.

He's currently in a foster home with kids and they adore him. He is great with pretty much all humans. He's good with other cats however we feel he'd be good either as a solo or with another chill cat as we don't know how he'd react to an alpha cat. FIV is NOT easily transmitted, only thru deep bite wounds or mating and many FIV cats share their homes with non FIV cats without transmission. He's untested with dogs and we'd prefer to not experiment as we don't want him to get bounced around if it ends up being not the right fit for him.

Anchovy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with vaccines. He also recently had a dental. He tested positive for FIV and is negative for FELV. But don't let this deter you as most cats with FIV live long healthy lives just like negative cats and studies have shown that most often the virus is slow acting and can take years to have a noticeable effect on health, if it ever does. In fact, many FIV+ cats never progress to the point of immune deficiency.

All of AdvoCat Rescue's cats and kittens are fostered in private homes. We require a completed pre-application to be submitted prior to scheduling potential adopters to meet them. Once an application is approved, we then schedule a virtual meet & greet. Applications can be accessed on this link: www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ADVR/Cat
