Myrtle is likely a Dachshund/Chihuahua (or perhaps terrier) mix, although she looks more like a Meerkat. Myrtle is about 1 year old and 10 pounds. If you want a dog that follows you everywhere, gazes at you worshipfully, lies by your side for hours on end, and basically thinks you’re the bee’s knees then Myrtle is your gal. This sweet and affectionate girl is shy and submissive and needs work on her confidence. Right now she’s more comfortable inside than outside. The outside world is a little scary although she does like to explore when she’s in a fenced yard. Myrtle doesn't pull on leash and has great stamina (she didn’t break a sweat on a 2 hour hike) but she doesn’t really enjoy her walks. As Myrtle becomes more secure and less of a ‘fraidy cat she should become more acclimated to being outdoors. Myrtle tolerates other dogs if they mind their Ps & Qs. She doesn’t like her personal space being invaded and will tell rude dogs to back off with a quick snap.
Myrtle rarely barks, is fine being left alone while her foster mom is at work, and isn’t destructive. Myrtle is calm and quiet in the house. She’s almost housebroken and is learning to use pee pads. She loves to curl up in a little ball on your lap or by your side (as close as possible). Myrtle would be fine in an apartment since she doesn’t need a lot of space. Her #1 priority in life is having quality time with people she loves. And since it takes her about 2 hours to decide she loves you, winning her heart will be a piece of cake.
