My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Walter was brought in by his previous owner on March 1, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Walter! Walter is a handsome boy with a big personality and a zest for life. He loves testing toys, solving puzzles for tasty treats, cuddling with his people, and chewing on bully sticks. Walter may take a little time to adjust to new environments and unfamiliar faces, but once he feels comfortable, he's a devoted and enthusiastic companion. He has mellowed in our care and volunteers have described him as calm, friendly and easy to handle. He prefers to be the only dog in the home but doesn't mind observing other dogs from a distance. Make sure to bring the entire household to come meet this handsome boy and speak with our trainers to ensure his success! If you're ready to give Walter a loving home, bring a leash and collar and come meet him today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
