Sable was found running loose near Sanger in early August of 2023. She was posted on lost/found groups and the appropriate shelters were notified, but no owner came forward. She does appear to be a purebred, but she is large for the breed, so she may be a mix.
Sable is healthy, spayed, chipped, and up to date on all of her vaccinations. She has no known health issues or defects, and she is a good weight for her size.
Sable is good with adults, but like many shepherds, she is wary of new people and needs time to get used to them. She seems to have a slight preference for women over men. We don’t know how she is with children, and while she isn’t aggressive toward our cat, she is curious, and they are not allowed to interact.
Sable is a very dominant personality and would do best with a large male dog for a companion. She is an inside dog and sleeps on a dog bed in the corner of our bedroom, and she’s a huge cuddle-monster who wants to be near you at all times. Snuggling on the couch with her head on your lap is one of her favorite pastimes, and she also enjoys chasing a ball and playing tugs with a rope bone.
She is house trained and has never had an accident in the house, and she knows basic obedience like sit, wait, off, and so on. She loves walks and is good on a leash and harness, and while not “crate trained” exactly, she does use our large crate to rest in, and when we first brought her home, we would put her in the crate when we left and she always did well.
If you think you and Sable might be a good match for each other, please contact Ed Hughes at (559) 805-6093. Thank you for your interest!
