My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Nickel has been dealt a rough hand this year, but we’re hoping his luck is about to change!
This adorable pup came to us after the heartbreaking loss of his beloved owner, leaving him without the warm home he once knew. Just when we thought things couldn`t get any tougher for Nickel, he tested positive for heartworms and had to undergo treatment to get back on the path to health.
Despite all this, Nickel’s spirit hasn’t wavered. He`s been patiently waiting for over 5 months in the shelter, and through it all, he’s remained a loving and hopeful companion, dreaming of the day he finds his forever family.
Nickel is ready to put the bad luck behind him and start fresh with someone who can show him the love and stability he deserves.
Nickel is the epitome of sweetness - with his soulful eyes and gentle demeanor, he`s sure to capture your heart from the moment you meet him. While he may be a little bashful at first, it doesn`t take long for Nickel to warm up and show his true colors. With a wagging tail and a grateful heart, he`s always eager to make new friends and share his love with those around him. One of Nickel`s favorite pastimes is indulging in delicious treats and basking in the affection of his humans. Whether it`s a tasty biscuit or a scratch behind the ears, he thrives on the love and attention showered upon him. Nickel`s love language is simple - treats and cuddles are all he needs to feel happy and content.

Additional adoption info

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.

Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.

Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
