Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Steinbeck!
An 8-year-old American English Coonhound hailing from the city of Nashville, TN. Despite his Tennessee roots, Steinbeck is ready to travel for the perfect forever home. His zest for life revolves around walks through wooded trails, where he delights in the simple joy of frolicking among the trees!
This charming hound has a soft spot for plush toys and a peanut butter-filled kong, making playtime a daily highlight. Steinbeck is not just a playful companion; he's also a clever one, knowing commands like Sit, Down, Shake, High Five, Come Find Me, and Kennel.
However, Steinbeck grapples with generalized anxiety disorder and stress-induced aggression, particularly when roused unexpectedly or feeling threatened in his safe space. As a result, he thrives in a household without small children. He's cautious around strangers and may exhibit resource-guarding behaviors, making an experienced adopter the ideal match.
In his element, Steinbeck's sweet and endearing nature shines through, especially with those he knows and loves. Picture the heartwarming moments when he curls up at your feet or rests his head on your lap – pure canine companionship at its finest!
A well-mannered housemate, Steinbeck is house-trained, refraining from furniture antics, and has no history of destructive behavior. A fenced-in yard is a must, providing him the freedom to explore and play safely. Though he takes medication for anxiety, Steinbeck is otherwise a healthy and resilient dog.
For Steinbeck, the journey to his perfect home may involve a bit of travel, but his loyal heart and affectionate spirit make him a worthy companion for an experienced adopter ready to embrace the unique needs and charms of this special Coonhound!
