My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Montgomery, Texas
DOB: 07/22/2023

Do we have any Belgian Malinois x Great Dane lovers here? Located in Montgomery, Texas, Lovebug is a 1.5-year-old male, 50/50 Dane and Malinois mix, looking for a foster home. If you’re in Texas or the surrounding states, maybe even a bit further, you might be the one for him. Lovebug isn’t neutered yet, but that will be taken care of under our care if we can place him.

Lovebug is a sweet boy who thrives on pets and snuggles. While he has the energetic spirit of a Malinois, he loves to cuddle when he’s done exploring. Occasionally, he’ll seek attention by jumping up and laying his head on his foster mom’s shoulder. Having grown up with other dogs, he’s done well with them, although he hasn’t met many outside his home. The foster house has cats, but he rarely shows interest in them, maybe giving a playful bark when they venture onto counters, but he ultimately loses interest.

While Lovebug is slow to warm up to new people and may bark a bit at first, he settles down quickly with reassurance. House training is a work in progress but improving daily. Frequent potty breaks help, and neutering will likely aid in this process too. Lovebug loves treats, especially apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin yogurt mix.

Ready to branch away from his siblings, Lovebug is eager to make a new life for himself. While his training needs some fine-tuning, he’s a fast learner and will make a wonderful addition to a loving home. If you’re looking for a foster-to-adopt opportunity, and you have children aged 12 and up, Lovebug could be the perfect fit for your family! Please fill out the foster application if you’re interested in giving Lovebug the loving home he deserves.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
