Ruger is 3yo, weighs 28lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, but is not microchipped. Ruger's guardian adds: "He's the best snuggle buddy and would love to be able to sleep in bed with you! Daily walks are a must, he needs some adventure time before cuddling on the couch. He can't be left unattended for even a minute in a fenced yard because he will very quickly dig out! He does well during car rides, but dislikes/fears crates and being left alone. NOTE: A requirement of his adoption will be enrolling him in a training program with a professional dog trainer. Beagle experience would be great!"
Ruger's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:
"I took Ruger in 2 years ago and soon realized his previous owner gave him no training what so ever. I’ve been struggling with him in my home because I have other dogs that feed off of his wild child energy and it’s causing a lot of issues within my pack. Which is making it even more difficult to train him."
Ruger's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "He is currently taking fluoxetine for separation anxiety."
Ruger's guardian states the following regarding children: Although Ruger has lived with children (currently with a small baby, formerly with children 1-9yo), his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating:
"He’s affectionate with kids but will steal their food. He also sometimes growls when you move him when he’s laying down, he’s never bitten or snapped, but that may scare a child. Children visiting would be fine but a child free home would probably be best."
Ruger's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Ruger lives with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He will howl at dogs outside the home and on walks. Does fine with proper introduction".
Ruger's guardian states the following regarding cats: Ruger lives with cats, so his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "He might howl if he sees one outside but leaves my cats alone".
Ruger's guardian describes him as:
Very active
Barks alot
Playful
Friendly
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Always at your side
Indoor dog
Likes men
Likes women
Separation anxiety
Digger
Ruger's guardian describes his ideal future home:
"Ruger's perfect home would be a less busy household (without other dogs or maybe just 1 other dog) where he can have more time committed to just him. Someone that can provide him better structure that he needs and he’d greatly benefit from a good training program because he’s smart and willing to learn."
