Hi, I'm Buttercup, a light buff orange male Persian cat! My brother, Garfield and I are two years old. We came from a breeder's house and were sold as kittens, but we were rehomed and then rescued by the SOCA volunteers. According to the breeder, we are pure-bred cats, but we do not have documentation to prove it. I am only ten pounds, but I look larger, because I have lots of long, fluffy fur, especially on my tail! Since I am an adult cat, I am much calmer than a little kitten. I am fairly independent and do not crave attention, although I definitely like being brushed. I am good with kids and will let them hold me and pet me. I do vocalize from time to time, but I am very happy to sit in a cat tree and watch the birds outside. Just like my brother, I have a very soft purr when my foster family brushes me. My foster mom can't wait to find me a loving home that will dote on me for the rest of my life, especially after having been rehomed and rescued.
My brother Garfield and I are bonded. We are biological brothers and have lived together for two years, so we will be looking for a family that will adopt the both of us.
When my brother and I are adopted into a new family, we will need daily brushing, because we have so much hair! Please be aware that adopting a Persian cat means that there will be lots of hair on the floors and on clothing after we are picked up! It is possible that we will need grooming occasionally, especially because long hair grows out from between my toe beans, and sometimes, it can get caught in our litter box. My fur (and tail) are slightly longer and fluffier than Garfield's, and I am prone to getting mats and waste caught in my fur. If I am not brushed often enough, mats will develop in my fur. Fortunately, my foster mom has gotten all of my mats brushed out for the time being! Please keep in mind that Garfield and I are more likely to cough up hairballs, because of our longer hair. Frequent brushing and/or grooming can help with this! Also, because of my breed, my eyes water quite a bit. So far, I have not had any gunk develop in my eyes like my brother has, but it can happen. The vet says it is nothing to worry about and is a result of the flat-face Persian characteristic.
Garfield and I have a total adoption fee of $400. We are up to date on our vaccines, we have both been neutered (so we cannot be used for breeding), and we just got microchipped. We will start having meet and greets with applicants at the Petsmart in Fulshear starting on February 3rd.
