Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Up for adoption in Texas: Hercules.
This gorgeous boy is about two years old and weighs just under 60 pounds.
Lucky Lab got a message from a shelter asking us to save Hercules and his sister. The two were surrendered to the shelter after they kept jumping over the fence in their prior home and kept heading over to the local senior center in town. We're pretty sure they were a big hit at the senior center, but their prior pet parent wasn't too happy with them.
This is what Hercules' foster mom tells us about this black beauty:
Hercules is as close to the perfect dog as you will ever meet. He is very laid back but is also ready for an adventure such as a road trip or hike or hang out on the patio of your favorite restaurant.
He is gentle and easygoing and loves attention. With soulful brown eyes and an adorable underbite, Hercules is a charmer. He is lanky.
While in his foster home Hercules seems to love people and has been good with kids, but hasn't lived with kids in his foster home.
He gets along with other dogs, loves to go for walks and hikes, and will chill on his bed or curled up next to you on the couch.
He is kennel trained and sleeps in his kennel through the night. He does well in his kennel when left alone and loves hanging out in the backyard soaking up the sun when you are home. He is very food driven and wants to please so is easy to train. He knows some basic commands like sit, shake, and kennel.
He has just about mastered being housebroken, does well with a schedule, and is learning to alert his person by whimpering when he needs to go outside.
He rarely barks, takes cues from his person when it is time to rest and relax, but is ready to go when you are. Just pick up the leash, and he will sit and wait for you to attach it and head out. He is always up for an adventure. Everyone who has met him says he is the best dog.
Hercules would do well in a home with a canine sibling who is playful but not aggressive but would be perfectly happy with only humans.
He craves and loves being pet and would do well in a home where someone is there most of the day and will take him for walks, hikes, road trips, play dates with other dogs, to restaurants, and pretty much anywhere dogs are allowed. He easily assimilates into social situations.
Hercules is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
**Note in his prior home he was a fence jumper. So if an adopter has a fence you need to be aware of this and have a high fence or always keep an eye on him.
