My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Nyx. I am named after the Greek goddess of the night. I am a very shy kitty and need a home where I can take my time coming out of my shell. New people are intimidating at first but I know they do not mean me any harm. I am becoming more adventurous by the day. I am even spending time with my foster sister and brother and we are getting along great. I need a slow introduction and I will get along with other cats. My favorite pastime is watching the birds through the window or watching TV. I come across as standoffish and I like to pretend I'm more fierce than I am. I assure you that my hiss is all for show. I have made a lot of progress from when I first came to my foster home. I know that with the right setting, I will blossom into a lifelong companion. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
