Adopt a guy that can do it all!

If you`re looking for that classic lab-type, Bronte is your guy! He loves endless games of fetch. He loves throwing his toys around and settling down to chew on them. He loves, loves to swim! He is very smart, and very, very treat motivated—making him the ideal candidate to teach new tricks to. As much as Bronte loves playing, he`s equally as good at settling calming at home and taking all the sun naps.

Bronny`s best volunteer friends rave about this happy, goofy, loving guy. He`s also a pleasure to walk—doesn`t pull on the leash, and calmly sniffs around. He pays no mind to passing dogs, people, bikes, he`s just minding his business.

Adopting a dog like Bronte offers the opportunity to skip the demanding puppy phase while still having a young, trainable companion ready to bond and explore life with you. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
