My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bonita! Named after her Spanish moniker, she truly lives up to her name with her stunning coat of fur and glittering green eyes. But while she may be a beauty to behold, her true beauty shines from within. Despite her initial shyness, Bonita is a loving and gentle soul who craves nothing more than a warm and loving home to call her own. When first brought into a new environment, Bonita may retreat to a quiet spot to hide and observe from afar. But with patience and understanding, she will slowly start to explore her new surroundings and show her affectionate side, purring as she leans her head into your hand. Bonita would do well in a calm and quiet home with a patient and understanding cat-savvy owner who can give her the time and space she needs to adjust to her new surroundings. If you`re looking for a gentle and loving companion to share your life with, Bonita just might be the perfect match for you. Come meet this beautiful girl and see how her shy demeanor turns into a loving and playful companion once she has found her forever home.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., located in Fallston, Maryland, is a non-profit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Harford County. We provide a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seek loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals we serve. Through education and advocacy, we promote the humane treatment of companion animals and work toward reducing, and ultimately eliminating, pet overpopulation in the county through low-cost spay and neuter programs.

We have welcomed more than 300,000 animals since 1946 and provide service to the community in conjunction with animal control to safeguard public health and safety. We strive to promote the special bond between humans and their companion pets in securing forever homes for our animals.

The Humane Society of Harford County serves nearly 4,000 animals each year. The animals include dogs, cats, ponies, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, bearded dragons, lizards, snakes, spiders, iguanas, turtles, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats and pigs, to name a few. The majority of the animals we receive are cats (and kittens) and dogs (and puppies).
