My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lydia!

The gentle 4 1/2-year-old Pitbull mix weighing 64 lbs, with eyes as soulful as her loving heart! Lydia is ready to find her forever family, bringing warmth, affection, and a gentle spirit to her lucky home. Lydia is a friendly and easygoing girl with a heart of gold. Her soulful eyes reflect her kind nature, making her a beloved companion for anyone seeking a loyal and loving furry friend.

If there are children in her forever home, Lydia would do best with kids aged 13 years old and up. Her sensitive nature requires a calm and understanding environment where she can feel safe and secure.
Lydia shows great potential to live with another dog in her forever home, although she prefers a slow introduction to ensure it`s a great fit. With patience and proper introductions, she shows potential to form a strong bond with her canine companion.

Lydia`s future home will be one filled with love, patience, and understanding as she continues to blossom and thrive. With the right match, she`s sure to become an integral part of the family and bring joy to everyone she meets.

Ready to welcome the gentle spirit of Lydia into your life? Call 330-487-0333 ext 226 to schedule an appointment and let the delightful presence of Lydia fill your home with love. Your forever friend is just a call away!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
