My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Cody is an estimated 15-month-old, 50 lb neutered male lab mix (possibly with Catahoula) from Roswell New Mexico. He and his two litter mates were taken into the shelter as young pups and have been growing up in kennel-based foster care, including socialization with other dogs of all sizes and people. Unfortunately, despite their friendly temperaments, the three large-breed black dogs were not getting any adoption interest, so Cody has joined Dog Gone Seattle to find his forever home. More info to come as we get to know him in foster care.

Foster Update: Cody has really blossomed in foster care! He is great with other dogs -- no issues at all -- and will need another balanced dog or two in his forever home to help continue to build his confidence. He plays all day with our resident dog and loves to follow her around! He is great with his people in the home but still nervous of new people and needs time to warm up. Cody really enjoys playing with toys, swimming, hiking, and going on walks; he does best in familiar environments and with routine. He rides well in the car, is good in the crate both day and night now, and sleeps comfortably in the crate through the night. Cody would benefit an owner who has experience with initially shy dogs and can provide him confident leadership; as mentioned he will also need a resident dog(s) in the home. He has not been tested with cats but can be upon request from a qualified adopter.

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
