My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Princeton, MN
DOB: 01/17/2018 (Estimate)

Ash is a majestic Great Dane with a soul as gentle as a summer breeze. He’s a leash-walking aficionado in the making, eagerly embracing the scents of the world with a wagging tail and an ever-improving “leave it” command. His reactions are reserved only for those who challenge him first, otherwise, he’s as cool as a cucumber.

His social skills are blossoming beautifully; people are now part of his walking landscape, and even bicycles, those mysterious two-wheeled creatures, can’t shake his focus when treats are at hand.

When it comes to playtime, Ash is all about the thrill of the chase, though the concept of fetch is still a work in progress. Keep-away, however, is a game he champions with glee.

Cuddles? Ash can’t get enough! He’s one of the sweetest Danes to grace us with his presence, and his love for snuggles is boundless.

A home with a yard would be Ash’s paradise, a place where he can roam and lounge to his heart’s content. He’s a champion of holding the fort for 6-8 hours, as long as he’s aware of the outdoor schedule.

Mealtime is a joyous occasion for Ash. Once a grazer, he now devours his meals with gusto, accompanied by a symphony of slobbery delight. Treats are the way to his heart, especially during dinner time in the loft, where he’s learning the fine art of patience.

Ash may be cautious with new faces in his home, announcing his presence with a sniff and a slow warm-up. Yet, outdoors, he’s a social butterfly, mingling with ease once he’s settled in.

This lovable Dane is protective but never mean, a guardian angel for those he holds dear. His voice may sing the ballad of solitude when left alone, but he quickly learns that his humans always return.

Ash’s manners are impeccable, from sitting patiently for meals to mastering the commands that make him such a well-behaved companion. He’s still learning his name, but what’s in a name when you have a heart as big as his?

Toys are treasures, especially those claimed by his furry foster sibling. And while fetch may capture his interest momentarily, companionship is what truly fills his soul.

Ash thrives in the company of another dog, sharing dreams on the same bed. Cats, however, remain an enigma, their allure strong but untested in cohabitation.

Left to his own devices, Ash is the epitome of good behavior—no chewing, no counter-surfing, just a serene presence awaiting your return.

He may have a soft spot for mom, but dad’s growing on him too. A low-growl is just his way of saying hello, a gentle reminder that he’s part of the family.

Ash dreams of a peaceful home, one with less hustle and bustle, where he can be the tranquil, loving soul he truly is.

If you’re looking for a noble companion to fill your days with gentle affection and quiet loyalty, Ash is waiting to fill that spot in your heart and home.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
