Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Who’s yellow, small, snuggly, and cute all over? Rufus is! Rufus is about an 9-month-old mix (maybe some Dachshund, maybe some Chihuahua, maybe some mystery) who weighs in at 16.1 lbs. Being such a young fella means that Rufus is looking for a forever guardian(s) who will continue his training and socialization with a certified positive reinforcement-based trainer (POOCH is happy to help you find one local to you!)
He’s off to a great start here at POOCH, and can’t wait to show you what he’s learned so far! Rufus can be a little bit shy at first, so he will be looking to make positive associations with you when you toss him treats. He is a bit scared of hands going over his head to pet him, so when he solicits attention and petting from you, please pet his chest and shoulders until he warms up. Rufus loves going on walks and walks really nicely on his leash. He loves to play with his toys, with people, and is totally fine entertaining himself with his toys as well. Rufus loves to be curled up next to people as well as a warm lap—he is an affectionate and sweet fella! Rufus loves to play with other dogs and is learning how to take play breaks when other dogs ask for them. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. If you think you could be the match for him, apply today - he’s ready to meet his forever family!
Likes:
Loves to play with toys and napping on soft, fluffy beds
Super sweet and can be a little shy at first. He will love it if you toss him some treats when you first meet him
Has done really well learning new things and will be happy to show you the cues he has learned
Walks well on leash
Likes to play with his dog friends after appropriate introductions
Prefers his meals on plates instead of bowls, like a dignified boy.
Dislikes: People coming at him too fast.
