Hi everyone, my name is Nubbins. I’m a sweet 7-year-old, 12-pound male White/Tan Chihuahua mix. I came into rescue when my human was unable to care for me any longer. I am such a handsome, sweet boy, and have learned so much since coming into my foster home. I have learned how to sit on command and can even sit pretty, which is actually quite adorable! I have learned the command down and stay and I’m working on crawl and that is pretty cute too! So as you can see, I’m super smart and can probably learn a lot of new tricks with my forever family and it helps that I am very food motivated.
I also do amazingly awesome with my house training and have no accidents in my foster home. I might need a short period of adjustment with my new family, but I have got this down and will even tell you when I need to go. My foster mom greatly appreciates this! Also, if you like a little sidekick, I am a good traveler and love to be strapped into my doggy car seat and watch the world go by. So if you’re looking for a travel buddy, I might just be your guy!
My foster mom says that one of my absolute favorite things to do (other than snuggling) is to play fetch! So she really hopes that someone will adopt me who loves playing fetch as much as I do! If it is a squeaky toy that is all the better!
When my foster mom has to run errands without me, she just puts me in a gated area and I am a very good boy until she returns and then will do my business outside. At night time I will beat her to bed by running in to my crate and snuggling down for the night. Am I pretty awesome or what?
My foster mom has babysat a couple other foster dogs and as long as they aren’t in my face too much or too wild and crazy I have done just fine with them. I have enjoyed lying in the sun with my new friend or going for walks. So I could have another dog in my home as long as they are not too rambunctious.
I had some red itchy skin and hair loss when I came to SBRET but that has been treated. I still get a little itchy occasionally and have gotten a Cytapoint injection and medicated baths to help with that and we have now put me on a dog food that is fish based to see if that might also help. But overall, my skin and coat are looking wonderful.
For the most part I’m just your average happy little Chihuahua without the yappy bark - I hang out on the couch when you're busy unless you're in the kitchen then I’m right there where the food is. I’m neutered, microchipped, also up to date on my vaccines, flea and heartworm preventions and had a dental. My adoption fee is $175.
