Ellis is a senior, gentle giant with black and white markings. Ellis was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own. Unfortunately, his parents split up and could no longer care for this sweet boy. He came back to PFP and has been getting all the walks, snuggles and “good boys” he deserves!
Ellis has soooo many reasons you should scoop him up right now! He is very gentle and loves the attention from kiddos. Ellis likes to lay with his head on the kids' lap and nap. However, Ellis would be best in a house with kids 7+ due to his large size, and his slight clumsiness, and because he sometimes forgets how big he is. Ellis also would do well with other dogs. He does not react to dogs he sees on walks, he just keeps on trottin’ happily! He’d enjoy another playful dog buddy who also likes to snuggle after walks and play time.
Despite his age, he has a lot of pep in his step. He loves spending time outside and enjoys long walks. He will have spurts of energy and enjoys playing tug o’ war and low intensity play with crinkly toys. He doesn’t play fetch, he’d rather watch you throw and retrieve the ball. He’s on the lower end of energy, so as long as the family is willing to walk, Ellis would be more than happy to snooze afterwards and snuggle on the couch. He loves going for family walks and extremely quiet inside and outside of the house.
He is a true angel and gentle giant! He deserves the best home where he is able to live out his golden years. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart & big boy who is calm and has a great temperament, Ellis is your guy.
As if you needed more reasons, here's Ellis' current resume of skills:
-crate trained
-knows "sit"
-knows "lay down"
-knows "paw"
-gentle when taking treats
-potty trained
-gives great kisses and cuddles
-references describe him as "Gentle, intelligent, and loyal"

More about this rescue
Players for Pits is a 501c3, non profit rescue that connects professional athletes to the community in order to come together to take a stand against the abuse and neglect of animals. PFP serves the western suburbs of Chicago and is a foster based rescue, so the dogs in our care are in foster homes learning the basics of being a well balanced dog versus being in cages at loud boarding facilities.
The athletes involved in our rescue actively support the rescue efforts and help by spreading the word of dogs in need. It is the mission of Players for Pits to educate dog owners about proper pet care - both physical and mental - so that the dogs in our care can be happy, well balanced members of society. It is our goal to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them into loving homes in the suburbs. At Players for Pits we stand up for pit bulls, who's character is routinely tarnished and often misrepresented. We recognize the pit bull for what it is: a DOG. And any dog with the right care and owners can be a wonderful pet. While we are an advocate for pit bulls, we do not discriminate based on breed and will take in other breeds if they need you help. Players for Pits is also very active in the community and we co-host clinics to help struggling families maintain their pets health, we train pit bull type dogs to become therapy dogs for children with abusive backgrounds, and we try to involve the community in our goal to reduce pet abandonment.
