Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Toby! He looks like he’s snarling in many of his pics, but we promise he’s not. He just has resting snarling face 😤. We aren’t sure he actually knows how to be mean for real, he haven’t seen him be anything but sweet.
This 10 year old Shih tzu came to us when his elderly owner was suffering from dementia and not able to care for him, often forgetting to feed him. He’s a foody who appreciates his regular meals and eats like he thinks he may not ever get fed again, and begs for snacks in between. He’s a gentle mellow cuddler, chill with other dogs and just wants to hang with his people, snacking and napping all day long. He has a heart murmur which we got checked out and no medication needed at this time, a few old man bumps and warts but overall in great shape for a senior and we hope will have many years to enjoy with whomever adopts him.
Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Toby in Northern NJ
Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
