Milton has come so far and has learned to trust. Loyal Milton lived outside in TX, unloved and uncared for until his decline in health was noticed. SSR came to the rescue. Milton is a bit timid when initially meeting men, but he has turned the page! We can definitely say now that Milton has added men as a favorite human! This gentle boy is good with lower energy dogs, older children, and has curiosity for the kitties. Milton has some instability in his hind quarters, test reveal an old injury and is in no pain. He would benefit best with limited stairs and does well in grassy areas. Milton is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, housebroken, and crate trained. He weighs about 60 pounds and is such a good boy to leash walk. Milton is currently being treated for heartworm. A rare moment of excitement for Milton is when feeding time comes. He also responds well to the 'NO' command. Affectionate Milton is in search of a forever home to prove his loyalty, lay at your feet, and chill with you! Come meet marvelous Milton!

Additional adoption info

The first step to adopt one of our dogs is to complete an adoption application. Once you have submitted your application, a volunteer with call your personal and veterinary references. Following references, SSR will send out a volunteer to conduct a home visit and meet any members of your household. We come to your home and further discuss the adoption process.

The adoption application will let us know a little bit about you, your home, your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a companion. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to fill out our application to adopt one of our dogs. Your application will either be accepted or denied after the volunteer submits a home visit report.

ADOPTION FEES
There is a non-refundable application fee of $15.
Our adoption fee is $300 for dogs aged 6 and under.
Our adoption fee is $225 for dogs 7 and up.

Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue is an all-volunteer rescue focused primarily on the rescue of German Shepherds. We are based out of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, but expand our reach and work to save German Shepherds in heavily populated areas throughout the country. While our rescue is a new organization, our volunteers have been rescuing German Shepherds for many years. Our hope is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome every German Shepherd in need.
