Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Hi, my name is Dixie. I've not had a very good life up until now. I've been chained, bred for puppies, not fed, beat, and thrown away. I will probably always have the chain scars on my neck from my old home but they're healing nicely.... About a week ago I found myself at a place called "the shelter". To some this would sound horrible and believe me I was scared at first, but then a lady saw me and told me that I wasn't bad and she could help me. She gave me water, food, and a warm blanket and sat beside me while I ate. I didn't want to let her know that I liked it and I didn't want to be friends with her because until now, well, let's just say that humans had not been very nice to me and I didn't want to go through that again. She wouldn't leave me alone! I was surprised the next morning to find that I was excited to see the humans come in. They cleaned my run up, gave me MORE food, MORE water, another clean blanket, and they loved on me. I didn't understand all of this attention but I was sure starting to like it, and now, I'm learning what being a "lap dog" is all about and I love it! I was just spayed, vaccinated, I'm heartworm negative, & microchipped (which is supposed to all be in my best interest but I'm not so sure). I'm good with other dogs and great with people when I trust that you're not going to hurt me. They say that I've come out of my shell and that I'm wonderful. They also say that I need a home and that I deserve to be in the rescue. I went to my first adoption event today and while I was nervous, it wasn't so bad. I'm excited for the first time in a long time. I'd love to know what this "home" is they keep referring to... it sounds wonderful." Love, Dixie ♥
