My name is Amigo!

Amigo is a Dobie mix we took in just over a year ago, in January, 2023. He had charmed his animal shelter advocates with his friendly, silly behavior, and initially we found him delightfully friendly also. There were moments however, Amigo would behave like a guard dog if people approached his kennel, and we began to wonder if he was actually a danger. This behavior seemed most prevalent when he was inside his doghouse. He was an absolute delight 99% of the time but he had moments where his behavior was difficult to read. Then, one day, our volunteer dog-walkers marched in and leashed him for a walk, and he behaved like a silly pup who smiles. We still aren't sure if there are moments when he can be defensive or not but we think he may just need someone experienced that can read his cues and understand when not to pressure him. We're seeking an adult home for him without a lot of challenges with folks who are willing to give him a chance. Amigo is about 3 years old, dog-social, and weighs about 65 pounds.
